Homemade, Fresh Juices








It's Summer Time - and that can only mean one thing - 
Time for Smoothies!



To get your mind and body moving in the right direction to losing those winter pounds, substituting meals for cool, refreshing and healthy drinks made at home are the best.

Whether you prefer your drinks made from fruit or veggies, I've included a few options you can make in your own kitchen using a blender or juice maker.



To make Kickstart's Power Smoothie, perfect for a jump start in the summer mornings, mix 8 medium strawberries, a handful of blueberries, 1 banana, 1 cup of apple juice and 25-30 grams of whey or soy protein powder. Blend for 20 to 30 seconds, or until all fruit is pulverized, and serve cold.

 If you want a little more kick in your morning drink, try Kickstart's Morning Cocktail. If you are using a blender, simply mix 3 pineapple round slices with 1 cup of apple juice and 8-10 strawberries. If you wish to use a juicer, follow the same method, except substitute the apple juice for 1 medium sized apple, core removed.

Smooth Strawberry Cream is another great tasting morning mixer. Blend 1 banana with 8-10 medium strawberries and 1 cup of apple juice.

 For lunch or dinnertime, Kickstart's vegetable based Carrot Zinger is delicious and refreshing. You will need to use a juicer for this recipe. Use 3-4 carrots, 1 medium cucumber, 3-4 stalks of celery and 1/4 inch of fresh ginger.

And one last vegetable juice mix- The Complete Cleanser. Perfect for a mid-week beverage to cleanse your system. Using your juicer, mix 3-4 carrots, 3 beets and 1 medium cucumber. You may add celery if you wish, it adds a little more of a crisp flavor.
