Planning Ahead- Healthy Eating for the Week

What is the key to staying on track with healthy eating?

Planning ahead!

Prepping food a term used by many healthy eaters that refers to a way of staying organized and sticking to a healthy eating regimen. By putting aside a few hours on Sundays, you can easily prepare yourself for the week ahead and stay on track with your clean eating.

You can use this Healthy Grocery List as a reference for your  healthy lifestyle!

Once you come back from the store, immediately begin to cook, prepare and package all your meals for the week into separate containers.

To see how I eat on a weekly basis - Check out my daily meal plan for clean eating.

I set aside a few hours to prepare my favorite foods in large quantities- enough to get me through the work week. I find that it saves me a lot of stress and time in the long term. This also helps with portion and calorie control. Planning out your weekly meals is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Making large meals using a slow cooker is a great method of ensuring you have 7-8 meals to last for lunch or dinner for the majority of your week. Once cooked, spoon out portions of your favorite dish into smaller containers and store them in the fridge. This makes meal prep for work or school so much easier!

Don't have a slow cooker? No problem - you can make a large soup or salad that will last all week, and doesn't have to be boring. Check out these Healthy Soup Recipes that yield large batches.

Cooking large batches of healthy meals for the week will keep you on a healthy lifestyle

Make a large batch of a healthy snack that satiates your worst cravings. You can create protein bars that are pumpkin or chocolate flavored, or bake oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, chocolate and peanut butter protein bars. If you don't have time to bake- there are many no-bake healthy energy bite options like these made from chocolate, cranberry and flax or these yummy yogurt energy bites

If you feel like more of a crispy snack, you can make your own veggie chips for the entire week using sweet potato and zucchini.

Making a large batch of turkey burgers is also a great way of making sure you eat healthy and lean protein all week. Two pounds of lean ground turkey can last all week - try this recipe here for Very Veggie Turkey Burgers.

Or, try out my new favorite- Black Bean and Sweet Potato Turkey Burgers.
