Tasty Tuna!








If you know anything about me, you know I am not a huge fan of any kind of seafood.

However, I know seafood is good for you because it's packed with Omega-3 fats that are heart healthy and can also be a great source of lean protein.

While I have managed to choke down the occassional salmon or tilapia, tuna is undoubtedly the easiest and most convenient fish meal out there.

And while I have difficulty getting past my aversion to seafood, I have been able to come up with some pretty appetizing methods of making tuna an enjoyable meal.

 
One of my favorite go-to methods is substituting mayonnaise for Greek Yogurt. A 1/4 cup of plain, non fat Greek yogurt will work for a whole can of tuna. Mix well, add some pepper to taste, and serve with your favorite raw veggies. 






Another delicious way to get your healthy fats and lean protein in, is to mix one can of tuna with 1/4 cup of fresh avocado. You can eat as is, or mix in 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic, and a splash of lemon juice. To make it even yummier, try adding sodium-free, organic salsa into the mix! Sooooo yummy :) 




 The last way, and this one may not be so "clean," but it is amazingly delicious- mix your tuna with pesto! Using 1-2 tablespoons of fresh basil pesto, mix well with one can of tuna. Add sliced cherry tomatoes and spinach, and eat alone or serve in a whole grain or flax seed bun.
