Homemade Chocolate Chip and PB Protein Bars

Store bought protein bars can be great when you're in a crunch, but making your own is way healthier. No hidden preservatives or additives, and you can design them for your own liking - plus they're way cheaper than buying ready made protein bars at the store.

This recipe makes 9 bars, with 200 calories and 17 grams of protein each.

Making your own batch of protein bars is simple and doesn't require you to be a master baker, either.

Start with a large mixing bowl, and combine  7 scoops of your favorite vanilla protein powder. Stir in 2 cups of quick cooking oats, 5 tablespoons of slivered almonds, 1/2 cup carob chocolate chips, and 3 tablespoons of honey and natural peanut butter each. Stir with a wooden spoon, slowly adding 1/2 cup of water to reach a creamy consistency.

Line a small cookie pan with wax paper, and lightly spray with extra virgin olive oil. Flatten out your mixture to 1/4 inch thickness.

Bake in a conventional oven at 350* for 15-20 minutes.
Allow to cool, and store in the fridge to keep their freshness longer.

Slowly stir in 1/2 cup water to attain creamy consistency
