Having A Well Rounded Workout

What if I told you I knew the secret to happiness and achieving the body you want? 

Sounds too good to be true, right? 

I am NOT kidding when I tell you that the answer is so simple, it's ridiculous. I can think of countless people, myself included, who complain about how they have tried X, Y and Z and none of it has worked!

The truth is, it isn't difficult to be happy AND healthy.

Yes - for real. You need to find a balance of what you know is good for you with what you love. For example, I LOVE chocolate chip cookies. But, I know that eating them every day (which I would if I could, believe me) is not healthy for me. I find a balance by creating healthy meals that taste like dessert - like this Chocolate Chip Cookie Smoothie or these Protein Chocolate Chip Cookies , AND allowing myself a cookie every once in a while.

In fitness, it works the same way. Find the workouts that you LOVE, and do them! Who says you have to run every day to be fit? - Change things up when you get bored! 

Personally, I love to do a variety of exercises to move and explore my body - from flipping around in Gymnastics ....

to getting out my inner frustration with 
some therapeutic Kickboxing .....

to adding in core-based movement and stretching 
inspired by Pilates ....

Or relaxing with some rejuvenating Yoga:

and, of course, weight training on a 
regular schedule for muscular development:

I notice that a lot of us tend to get stuck into FITNESS RUTS. We do the same workout styles - whether it's weight training 5 days a week, running every other day, Crossfit training on a weekly basis, or only practicing one style of Yoga. When we step outside of our normal routine, our bodies start to RESPOND. 

Try to switch things up every few weeks or months and see how your body responds. 


Wasn't it Einstein who said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results? (or something like that :) 


This means with your diet AND your workouts - nutrition is NOT "one size fits all" - try different food combinations, meals, clean eating recipes - and don't always copy a meal plan from a fitness magazine or actress. Do what works for YOUR body- check out my article here on working and eating for your body type

If you weight train most days of the week, give your body a break with a long hike on the weekends or an invigorating Yoga class! 

If you eat oatmeal and egg whites every morning, try making Protein Banana Pancakes and really mix it up! 

Stepping outside your comfort zone, trying different workouts, and switching up eating plans literally will give you different results! GENIUS!
